The charming 'blue false indigo' from East America. The false indigo was grown as a cheap alternative to true indigo by the Cherokees for a source of blue dye. A deciduous perennial with glaucous blue foliage & lupin like spikes of dark blue flowers in summer, followed by black seed pods. Best in full sun in well drained soil. Hardy & easy.
